Welcome to the website that has a Long Game Mindset!
This is a website with a Long Game Mindset
By playing the long game, we embrace having small wins every day. By getting a little better every day, we can win the long game.
If you wake up, get up! If you wake up because you have to go to school, go to work, or run some errands, then you would get up for sure. That‘s not the scenarios I am describing here. What I am advocating for is that, if you have a day without much errands and you can choose to get up any time you want, try to get up as soon as you wake up. Stop wasting time trying to get back into the bed, try not to lie in bed to play with your phone (which would lead you to go back to sleep). Get up right after you wake up is the most natural way to get up. You will be able to take advantage of the energy that comes in the moment, and will not feel like a loser wasting time on your bed.

Invert to discover the paths to your goals. For example, if you want a great spouse, how do you get one? What ‘s the spouse of a great spouse? Of course, another great spouse! That means your goal should be to become a great spouse, to be generous, to be kind, to be humorous, to be courageous, to be wise, to be healthy. With these qualities to work on, you would figure out how your long game should be played: listening to others, helping others, paying attention to details to discover surprises (source of humors), reading to gain wisdom, exercising to maintain a good health.

Work on projects which have a long runway that allows you to snowball. Having a project that you can keep building on it means you will have a project that is big enough to have an impact to your life.

Do things with longer term benefits. Avoid things which only make you happy for five minutes. Learning is the most rewarding thing you can do every day because it benefits you for the rest of your life.

Maintain sustainable habits. Swear to write one page of essay every day is hard, so just write one sentence every day. Choose habits that you can sustain for a long time. Choose habits that allow you to takes more steps, not bigger steps. You want to enjoy the joy of compounding.

The emphasize is on making progress, no matter how small it is. And make progress every day.

In the Long Game, it‘s okay to lose sometimes. Every loss is a stepping stone for you to win next time. Learn from mistakes. As the famous quote from Thomas Edison says, “I Have Not Failed. I‘ve Just Found 10,000 Ways That Something Won‘t Work.“

You don‘t need to clean every spot of your home every day. You just need to DO the cleaning, dusting, wiping on a lot of places with some reasonable frequency, like every week or so.

The Long Game is about not getting hang up on being perfect. You just need to head to the right direction, one tiny step at a time, and you will be there.

Use tools to help you in the Long Game
Because we are in for the long haul, we have to make our belongings durable. Digital services help a lot here.
Use a cloud drive to store your files, so you can access them everyone without a physical drives. Having all your files available whenever you have accessed to the internet also means you do not need to stick to a particular computer. You can then do your work anywhere in the world, and do not have to worry (that much) about backups.
Google Drive Dropbox iCloud 百度云 腾讯微云Similar to the idea of using a cloud drive, using a cloud document service allows you to work anywhere. I highly recommend Google Docs (and Google Sheets, Google Slides, etc) because it's included in Google Drive, so you have one account with multiple services!
Google Docs Evernote iCloudPhotos are important because they are a low-friciton way to record what we have seen. We can easily take a photo with a smartphone that we always carry with us. It is also a dirty way to replace typing documents. You want a low cost solution to backup all your photos take.
I highly recommend Google Photos for its auto face tagging, searching, live album, and tons of other features.
